the Rev. Carl J.Richter - Senior Pastor

The Rev. Carl RichterCarl is a native of western New York - having been born and raised in the Village of Fredonia. He graduated from Fredonia High School and went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the Fredonia School of Music, SUNY at Fredonia, NY.

He was a vocal music teacher and choral conductor at Dunkirk Middle School (Dunkirk, NY) and the John F. Kennedy Middle School in Northampton, Massachusetts. He was the tenor soloist at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo, NY and South Congregational UCC in Springfield, MA, and was also choir director at First United Methodist Church of Dunkirk and the Fredonia Baptist Church.

Carl received a Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education (Chaplaincy) from the Hartford Hospital in 1993, and was admitted to the degree of Master of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York in 1994. He was ordained at South Congregational Church, UCC in Springfield, MA in October, 1994. He served churches in Holyoke, MA, Pittsburgh, PA, and Lorain, OH before being called to Webster UCC in 2010.

Carl is married to the former Martha Snyder, and they have two grown children. Katie and husband Michael Fish reside in Bethel Park, PA with their two sons, Lucas Carl and Nicholas Allen. Bill and his wife, Nicole, live in Parma, OH with their two greyhounds, Crosby and Chloe.

Marty and Carl enjoy spending time at their cottage at Bourne's Beach, on the shores of Lake Erie in Chautauqua County, traveling to visit the kids and grandkids (and grandpuppies), and quiet evenings in front of the fireplace at their home on Irondequoit Bay in Webster.
